On Sunday, Prime Minister Imran Khan rejected a summary proposal by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) for an increase in petroleum prices. The news was shared by the Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SPAM) on Political Communication Shahbaz Gill on Twitter.

Gill shared a picture of OGRA’’s proposed prices, saying, “Ogra proposed to increase the price of petroleum products from about Rs6-7 per litre… the prime minister did not allow it.”

According to the document, the OGRA suggested an increase of Rs 6.22 for petrol,  Rs 6.82 for High-speed diesel, Rs 6.37 for kerosene, and Rs 5.78 for light diesel. The prices would have come into effect by March 1. The prices will remain the same for all petroleum products for the next 15 days.

The Prime Minister had already turned down a summary proposal for increase in prices by the ORGA earlier this month.
