Prime Minister Imran Khan felicitated US President Joe Biden on his inauguration and said he looks forward to building “stronger US-Pak ties through trade and economic engagement.”

The prime minister in his tweet said: “I congratulate President Joe Biden on his inauguration. Look forward to working with POTUS in building a stronger Pak-US partnership through trade and economic engagement, countering climate change, improving public health, combating corruption and promoting peace in region and beyond.”

Biden, 78, was sworn in at a scaled back ceremony in Washington due to the coronavirus and security concerns following the January 6 assault on the Capitol by supporters of former President Donald Trump.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi expressed the hope that Biden administration will help Pakistan resolve the Indian occupied Kashmir issue.

He said Pakistan is an important country in the region, and no one can ignore Pakistan so far as the global issues are concerned.
