ISLAMABAD: After a meeting of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, the MoFA released a statement saying that Pakistan would want to talk to India as talks are the only way forward. Furthermore, the statement highlighted the deadlock between India and Pakistan, saying that the Indus Water Commission had not met in the last 2 years.

The statement also clarified that there had been no backdoor breakthrough with India as the ceasefire decision reached by the India and Pakistani Director General Military Operations (DGMO) as contact between the counterparts is part of the normal procedure. Commenting on the recent development, the FO said adherence to ceasefire understanding is for Kashmiris in its actual essence.

The authorities also confirmed that a delegation would be going to India under the Indus Water Commission to discuss water issues and new projects.
