Justice (retired) Sheikh Azmat Saeed of the Supreme Court of Pakistan has been appointed as the head of the government inquiry committee to probe the Boradsheet scandal.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Senator Shibli Faraz announced this in a Twitter message.

The former judge would also be consulted on the appointment of other members of the inquiry committee.

Justice (retired) Azmat Saeed was part of the five-member larger Supreme Court bench that disqualified Nawaz Sharif.

Shibli Faraz said that the prime minister has constituted a ministerial committee to probe the Broadsheet scandal and ordered it to present its findings within 45 days that would be made public.

An agreement was signed with Broadsheet LLC by the National Accountability Bureau in 1999 to find the assets of 200 Pakistanis stashed abroad. The agreement was breached by Pakistan in October 2003. The Broadsheet filed a civil suit in a British court that fined Pakistan for breach of contract and Pakistan had to pay $27.8 million.
