ISLAMABAD: The Hindu community in Pakistan on Tuesday held a protest outside the Indian High Commission in Islamabad and demanded an inquiry into the mysterious death of 11 migrants of their community in the Jodhpur city of Rajhastan last year.

At Diplomatic Enclave, the protestors of All Pakistan Hindu Panchayat chanted slogans against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bharatiya Janta Party government for their apathy towards the incident.

The members of the Hindu community raised slogans of ‘Long Live Pakistan’ and “In Modi’s India, even Hindus are not safe”.

Demanding transparent inquiry, they called upon India to share all details and investigation reports with the Hindu community and the government of Pakistan.

The protestors urged the United Nations to take notice of the frequent incidents of extrajudicial killings in India committed against minorities.

Earlier, 11 Hindu refugees of a family from Pakistan were found dead in Jodhpur district of Rajasthan on Sunday. The family, which had arrived in India from Pakistan in 2015, was living in the Dechu police station area of Lodta village of Jodhpur.

Police also recovered a suicide note from the spot suggesting that Boduram’s 38-year-old daughter Lakshmi who had trained as a nurse could have injected everyone with poison killing the 11 family members on Saturday night. Strips of Alprazolam were also found at the scene.

Investigators suspect that dinner may have been laced with sleeping pills after which everyone was injected with poison. All of the family members- three women, two men, and five children, had syringe marks on their hands except Lakshmi who had them on her feet, further strengthening the police’s suspicion.

Following a preliminary investigation into the matter, police also suspect that a family feud could have resulted in this tragedy. A detailed investigation into the matter is now underway. However, investigators have not ruled out foul play.
