The Government is planning to establish a Potato Development Council along with a Fan Export Council, said Abdul Razak Dawood, adviser to the Prime Minister on Commerce and Investment.

He said that the government was committed to expedite the establishment of a Potato Development Council under the forthcoming Strategic Trade Policy Framework (STPF). The council under STPF will formulate a long-term vision and policy for this sector, the adviser to commerce said on his official twitter account.

“We discussed problems facing the exports of potatoes and also negotiated on the way forward,” Razak Dawood said. “I would soon visit the potato growing areas to meet the farmers and also see the storage facilities,” he added.

The adviser said that the government will establish the Mango Development Council and the STPF, adding that the government is already exploring options for establishing cold storage areas in airports and ports.

“I also met the fans manufacturers and discussed the ways to improve the competitiveness of the fans industry,” he said. Fan manufacturers have agreed to acquire the requisite certifications for the export. The government has decided to establish a Fan Export Council which will be consist of experts from the industry.
