The government has approved Rs 6.53 billion for 67,000 need and merit-based scholarships during the ongoing academic year.

The Steering Committee for Ehsaas Undergraduate Scholarship met in Islamabad and finalised the approval. The committee was chaired by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Sania Nishtar.

Addressing the committee, Dr Sania Nishtar said that the scrutiny of new applications for scholarships is currently underway. She informed the participants that the final selection process is likely to be concluded by April 2021.

111,685 undergraduate students have applied for scholarships through the government’s online application portal, which closed public applications in November 2020.
