Opposition alliance Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chief Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman has said that there is an urgent need for an end to the government and holding transparent elections.

Talking to media in Peshawar, the Maulana reiterated that the PDM will contest by-elections and Senate elections.

A true representative government of the nation has become more important at this time.

He rejected the notion that “if the members of Sindh Assembly tender resignations, the assembly will be dissolved, and the Senate election will not be possible.”

He said if the Sindh Assembly is dissolved, it would not make any difference to electoral college. That is why “we have decided to contest Senate and by-election,” he added.

Criticising the government, he said the Transparency International has exposed the corruption of the government.

The chief of his own faction of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) Fazal said “we are not fighting with any state institution or the Establishment, we have no complaints against it, our war is against the government.”

He said NAB’s tactics have been thwarted. Now NAB itself is in danger and the new government will wind it up.

The Maulana advised the NAB officers to stay within limits and don’t harbour personal enmity with anyone.

About the PDM future, the Maulana said despite differences, the alliance is united. “We are united and moving forward according to our strategy. The PDM is playing its card according to circumstances.”

He said Broadsheet case has proved once again that the government is incompetent and it inflicted a great loss on the nation.

The rulers are indifferent to their future, their future is bleak, he added.

He announced that on February 5 a rally will be held in Muzaffarabad to express solidarity with Kashmiris.
