Massive tremors were felt in parts of northern Pakistan and India around 10:02 PM (PKT) on Friday. Initial information from global geological observatories suggests the epicentre was near Murghob, Tajikistan. The earthquake is estimated to be between 5.9 to 6.4 on the Richter scale. Aftershocks are expected in the next 24 hours.

Residents from Lahore, Islamabad, and Muzzafarabad in Pakistan took to Twitter to report the earthquake, describing strong tremors. There were similar reports from Dehli and Srinagar on the micro-blogging site.

Tajikistan, Afghanistan, and Northern Pakistan are expected to be impacted. There have been no confirmed reports of damage so far.

Reportedly, one woman in Haripur died in the earthquake.
