The National Command and Operation Centre has put forth a new set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in an attempt to alleviate the rising cases of COVID-19 in Pakistan. The country recorded 135 deaths today, the highest number of single-day deaths this year.

The meeting led to the decision of ‘broader lockdowns’ being put into effect, with stringent enforcement protocols based on risk assessment.

Moreover, the notification stated that “outdoor dining will be allowed from iftar till midnight, example 11:59 PM, with strict SOPs, while takeaways will be allowed.”

Market timings will be from Sehr to 6 PM, while taraweeh prayers will be organised in open spaces.

The notification also stated that a 50 per cent work from home policy will continue in Ramzan too.

With the surge in COVID-19 cases across the country, the number of critical patients has reached 4,216.

631 hospitals within Pakistan are equipped with COVID-19 facilities, with 5,056 patients admitted across the country.

Over the last 24 hours, 4,681 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Pakistan, according to data released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC). Meanwhile, 135 people lost their lives to the virus, of which 126 died while hospitalised.

79 died in Punjab, while 8 died in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

A total of 15,754 deaths have been registered across Pakistan so far.

The number of fatalities registered in the provinces stands at 7,141 in Punjab, 4,530 in Sindh, 2,732 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), 619 in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), 219 in Balochistan, 103 in Gilgit Baltistan (GB), and 410 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As of April 14, 2021, there are 76,757 active cases of COVID-19 in Pakistan.

Yesterday, 48,092 tests were conducted across Pakistan, with 10,176 conducted in Sindh, 22,781 in Punjab, 6,874 in KP, 5,493 in ICT, 1,230 in Balochistan, 535 in GB, and 1,003 in AJK.

To date, a total of 734,423 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Pakistan (AJK 14,837; Balochistan 20,499; GB 5,140; ICT 67,491; KP 101,045; Punjab 255,571; Sindh 269,840). 10,876,986 tests have so far been conducted across the country.

So far, 641,912 people have recovered across Pakistan.
