Prime Minister Imran Khan has said the problems being faced by Pakistan are due to the corruption of previous governments.

The premier was talking to a gathering of young digital media journalists from all over the country in capital Islamabad. He also listened to their comments and answered their questions.

Khan said if his government start issuing National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) to corrupt, the country would plunge deeper into chaos.

He said the opposition parties even attempted to get an NRO from the government on the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

About PML-N leaders, Imran Khan said that Khawaja Asif had got a residence permit in the UAE to launder money. Even former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, defence minister and foreign minister had work visas.

He said the opposition alliance PDM was formed to serve their personal agenda. They have not joined hand for the sake of nation, but to secure their corrupt elders, he added.

Khan said he would like to tell them once again that he would never give them an NRO.

He said former governments and leaders awarded NRO to each other. Even Pervez Musharraf gave an NRO to the two major political parties, he continued.

About Balochistan, he said that the province was never given importance by the past governments. To add insult to injury, tribal leaders formed an alliance with every government in the past and ignored its people, he added.

The development funds allocated to the province directly went to the tribal leaders, who continued to accumulate wealth and power but the masses remained poor and deprived, maintained Imran.

The PTI government was the first that was working for the socio-economic development of the people of Balochistan, he said.

About unrest in the province, he said the PTI government would take every step to improve the situation.

Sectarianism and targeted killings of Hazara people started in the 1980s with the arrival of the Afghan Jihad. That was the first time when we saw the rise of militant sectarianism, he said.

Several militant groups were formed when the US withdrew from Afghanistan in 1989 and they wreaked havoc on Pakistan, particularly targeting the Hazara Shia community.

Moreover, India was spreading unrest in Pakistan aiding terrorist organizations. Despite best efforts of our intelligence agencies, including the ISI, the terrorists targeted a remote location in Balochistan, he said.
