Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood announced on Thursday morning that “all schools will go back to regular 5-day classes from Monday, March 1. Restrictions imposed in some major cities on schools to conduct staggered classes was only till Feb 28.” He further clarified that this also applies to all cities where restrictions had been imposed earlier.

He added that “we are returning to normal”

The federal government, on the recommendation of the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC), had closed educational institutions on November 26, 2020 till January 10, 2021. They were scheduled to reopen on January 11. However, due to the rise of coronavirus cases across the country, it was decided to start distance learning instead of reopening educational institutions.

Education institutes were reopened in a staggered manner in the second held of January, with all institutions reopening on February 1. Schools were given the discretion in deciding their own schedules, and the majority had been following an alternate-day attendance schedule for their classes.
