As a result of numerous members of the Pakistan cricket squad testing positive in New Zealand, the team is likely to get vaccinated using vaccines from the UK, a reliable source within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) told The Correspondent.

This week the UK made multiple vaccines available to its public for a mass inoculation program, deeming two vaccines, Pfizer-BioNTech and the Oxford–AstraZeneca vaccines, safe for public use.

The decision was made last Thursday, and today the New Zealand Cricket Board formally requested the Ministry of Health for early vaccines for both teams. According to our source, the PCB high officials also agreed to the vaccination, and the PCB would bear all cost of the expensive vaccine.

The New Zealand health ministry has already signed an agreement last month in November with Pfizer and BioNTech, the developers of the best performing vaccine as of now, for providing 1.5 million vaccines.

The Pakistani squad has arrived in New Zealand at the end of November, and as of now, a total of 10 members of the squad have tested positive. The first four-day match against New Zealand A has already been cancelled as a result of a request from Pakistan’s tour management to readjust the side-match. The match was scheduled from December 10-13 at Queenstown. The next match is scheduled at Whangarei for 17 December till the 20th.
