After the failure of Vikram Vedha, famous Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan says “insane” amount paid to actors is responsible for Indians movies failure at box office, reported Times Now.

Talking to the TV channel, Saif said that the box office numbers of big-budget films were extremely disappointing and blamed the actors for that.

He was talking about the trend of movies’ box office performance which has become unpredictable. His much-anticipated film, Vikram Vedha, was made on a budget of Rs 175 crore, but only managed to make Rs 135.03 crore at the box office.

However, the movie was praised by critics. Saif was last seen in Vikram Vedha as Vikram alongside Hrithik Roshan.

Opening up about his disappointment on witnessing the poor box office performance of his much-anticipated film, Vikram Vedha, the actor discussed the unpredictable nature of box office success.

While Saif denied having any idea about why his film didn’t work, he commented that the general trend of big films not performing well was due to actor’s fees.

“I have no idea but something is happening. People will continue to make movies. Prices will keep fluctuating because our pricing, some of it, is insane. We pay people astronomically and the returns have been not good,” he remarked.

He further added that 2 percent of the population actually pays to watch films and today if that 2 percent increases 20 percent, ‘it could make it a wealthy industry.’

The Bollywood star will be seen in Om Raut’s Adipurush alongside Prabhas and Kriti Sanon. Playing Lankesh, the antagonist in the film, Saif’s look in the film received a lot of criticism alongside the significant VFX controversy. After the backlash, the film’s release was pushed back from January to June of 2023 by the makers.
