Messaging platform WhatsApp was down for users on Tuesday, according to outage tracker Downdetector.

The report shared by the website said the app went down shortly before noon, with #WhatsApp trending on Twitter in Pakistan with 13,000 users talking about the outage.

Users reported being unable to send messages, with the app showing “connecting”.

An outage was also reported in India.

“We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble sending messages and we’re working to restore WhatsApp for everyone as quickly as possible,” a Meta spokesperson said.

In October 2021, major social media services including Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp were hit by a massive outage, impacting potentially tens of millions of users.

Outage tracker Downdetector showed outages in heavily populated areas like Washington and Paris.
