The Inter-Provincial Education Ministers Conference (IPEMC) has decided to hold examinations and not to promote students without examinations.

This decision was taken in the IPEMC meeting held with Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood and attended by all provincial education ministers on Monday.

It was decided that Board examinations would begin after June 20. Intermediate (grades 11 and 12) and Matric (grades 9 and 10) examinations would start from the third week of June.

Examinations of grades 10 and 12 would be held in the third week of June and grades 9 and 11 later.

It was also decided that the summer vacations would be curtailed. The final decision in this regard would be made by the provinces.

The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on May 19 decided to reopen education institutes from May 24 in districts where the coronavirus positivity ratio is less than 5 per cent.

Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood last week announced that teachers will be inoculated against COVID-19 on a priority basis.

Taking to his official Twitter account, the federal education minister said that the government has decided to give priority to teachers in vaccination.
