Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif has said that no party has the right to dictate others in the opposition alliance, the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).

He was addressing a joint press conference in Islamabad on Friday with PDM chief Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman after a meeting at latter’s residence to “keep the alliance intact and bring back the estranged PPP and ANP back into the fold.” The PDM will meet on Saturday to take stock of the situation in the country.

Shehbaz said no party has the right to bring or kick another party out. The PDM is a forum and decisions are taken with consensus.

Replying to a question on the PPP and the ANP, the PML-N president said that he does not have a “personal opinion” and whatever he says is always the “party’s opinion”.

About the PDM meeting, he said that it will be presided over by Maulana Fazal and will discuss the country’s political situation.

He said the PDM will also discuss the budget that will be presented by the PTI government next month and the situation in Afghanistan.

Replying to a question about the dinner he hosted in Islamabad, the PML-N president said that his party had invited parliamentary leaders of all opposition parties to the dinner and it was not a PDM meeting.

Shehbaz said as opposition leader in the National Assembly, the PML-N had invited parliamentary heads in the NA and Senate to the dinner.

“We wanted to discuss a joint strategy of the opposition against the government ahead of budget and expose its massive failures in all areas of the economy,” he added.

PDM President Maulana Fazal said that Shehbaz had arrived at his residence to inquire about his health.
