Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla signed an INR 100,000 surety bond for Shahrukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan’s release.

According to reports, Chawla signed the bond at the special narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances court in Mumbai on Friday following the bail conditions provided by the Bombay High Court. Earlier on Thursday, Aryan Khan was granted bail by the high court but was not initially released.

There have also been reports circulating that Aryan will not be released on Friday either as the deadline of 5:30 pm to submit the documents has been missed.

According to Aryan’s lawyer, Chawla has worked with Shahrukh Khan and has known his son Aryan since his birth.

The conditions on the bail require Aryan to surrender his passport and report to the NCB office every Friday.

Case Background

Aryan, 23 was arrested by India’s Narcotics Control Bureau while they carried out a raid on a cruise ship on October 2 in Mumbai and charged him with possession of narcotics. He was remanded into NCB custody and presented in court till October 7. He was presented in court again on October 8, October 14, and October 20 as his bail plea was rejected each time. Aryan finally approached the Bombay High Court and was granted relief after three consecutive days of hearings.

As per NCB said 13 grams of cocaine, 5 grams of MD, 21 grams of charas, 22 pills of MDMA, and 133,000 INR were recovered during the raid but it must be noted that none of the recovered narcotics were in Aryan’s possession. The NCB argued that Aryan not being in possession of the recovered items was immaterial and that he was a “regular consumer of drugs” as can be seen in his WhatsApp conversations. However, Aryan’s lawyer, contended that the conversations were being taken out of context and were not related to the use of drugs.
