The European Union has appreciated Pakistan’s role in the Afghanistan situation, as Islamabad helped evacuate foreigners and Afghans seeking to flee the war-torn country.

European Union High Commissioner Androulla Kaminara showered accolades on Pakistan in a meeting with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

The meeting comes a day after the Taliban announced interim setup three weeks after sweeping into power with the takeover of Kabul on August 15.

Kaminara and General Bajwa discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security situation, including the current situation of Afghanistan and enhanced bilateral cooperation with EU, said ISPR.

The COAS said that Pakistan values its relations with the EU countries, and it earnestly looks forward to enhancing mutually beneficial multi-domain relations based on common interests.

The ambassador pledged to play role for further improvement in diplomatic cooperation with Pakistan at all levels, concluded the ISPR statement.
