A plane carrying body of slain journalist Arshad Sharif, who was killed by Kenyan police, landed in Islamabad early on Wednesday.

Journalists and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Fawad Chaudhry and Murad Saeed reached the airport to receive the body of renowned journalist.

The coffin carrying the body of Arshad was wrapped in the national flag.

According to media reports, his body was placed at a mortuary and post mortem examination will be conducted.

Sharif’s widow Javeria Siddique confirmed on Monday that he will be laid to rest in Islamabad’s H-11 graveyard on Thursday.

The journalist had left the country in August after sedition cases were registered against him. He died in Nairobi after being shot.

Meanwhile, President Arif Alvi visited Arshad Sharif’s residence and condoled with his mother and wife.
