Dr Faisal Sultan, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health said that COVID-19 vaccine will be available in Pakistan by March 2021.

While talking to a private news channel, Faisal confirmed that the government is in talks with three different companies for purchasing vaccine. Health workers will be given the vaccine first.

He further reiterated that people should understand the gravity of the situation and follow Standard Order Procedures (SOPs) to stop the spread of the disease.

In the last 24 hours, 2142 people tested positive for COVID-19 while 84 people passed away, according to the latest statistics released by the National Command and Control Centre (NCOC).

A total of 462,814 cases detected so far (AJK 8040, Balochistan 17980, GB 4832, ICT 36483, KP 55811, Punjab 133179, Sindh 206489)

Out of 1756 vents occupied for COVID-19 patients in the country, 319 are currently occupied. There is no patient on the vent in AJK, GB and Balochistan.

615 hospitals in Pakistan are equipped with COVID-19 facilities, with 2,931 patients admitted. So far, 409,085 people have recovered across Pakistan, making it a significant count.

As of today, country’s total death toll stands at 9557.
