Over the last 24 hours, 2,007 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Pakistan, according to data released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC). Meanwhile, 40 people lost their lives to the virus, of which 33 died while hospitalized. 16 died while on ventilators.

Punjab continues to register the most number of COVID-19 deaths, followed by Sindh.

The number of fatalities registered in the provinces stand at 4,242 in Punjab, 3,679 in Sindh, 1,718 in KP, 436 in ICT, 187 in Balochistan, 101 in GB, and 235 in AJK.

As of January 9, 2021, there are 33,474 active cases of COVID-19 in Pakistan.

Yesterday, 40,898 tests were conducted across Pakistan, with 12,904 conducted in Sindh, 15,438 in Punjab, 6,246 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), 4,980 in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), 613 in Balochistan, 374 in Gilgit Baltistan (GB), and 343 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

Of the ventilators reserved for COVID-19 patients, 305 are occupied across Pakistan. 45% of the reserved ventilators are occupied in Bahawalpur, 44% in Multan, 40% in Islamabad, and 33% in Lahore. No patients are on ventilator in Balochistan and GB. Of the allotted oxygen beds, 54% are occupied in Peshawar, 36% in Multan, 35% in Karachi, and 29% in Islamabad.

To date, a total of 499,517 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Pakistan (AJK 8,451; Balochistan 18,351; GB 4,879, ICT 38,970; KP 60,751; Punjab 144,111; Sindh 224,004). 7,043,604 tests have so far been conducted in Pakistan, and 10,598 total deaths have been registered.

So far, 455,445 people have recovered across Pakistan, making it a significant count.
