ISLAMABAD: The National Command Operation Center (NCOC) issued special SOPs and guidelines for mosques and Imambargahs for Ramzan.

According to the new guidelines prayers will be offered on the floor during the holy months and no carpets or mats will be laid in mosques and Imambargahs, NCOC guidelines read. However, the centre allowed the use of regularly sanitized mats in case the floor within the premises of the mosque is rough.

Furthermore, worshipers will be allowed to bring their own prayers-rugs from home, NCOC said.

The centre cautioned that people should avoid gathering before and after prayers and prayers should be offered in the courtyards of mosques and imambargahs, in open-air rather than within the prayer halls.

People over 50, children, people affected by cold and flu should not go to mosques, the guidelines recommended. “Taraweeh prayers should be offered in mosques, not on roads and sidewalks,” concluded the notification.
