Smart lockdown extended by the government has proved effective as positivity rate in the country further fell to 6.33 percent with 98 deaths due to coronavirus and 3,316 new cases reported during the last 24 hours.

It was the seventh successive day when the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data showed positivity rate of less than 7 percent on Tuesday.

According to the NCOC, 52,314 people were tested for COVID-19 across the country during the last 24 hours, of which 3,316 turned out to be positive. The country has recorded less than 4,000 infections daily since August 29.

With 98 deaths during the last 24 hours, the number of deaths from COVID-19 in the country has risen to 26,330. The total number of cases has reached 1,186,234.

Moreover, 3,270 people recovered from coronavirus in the last 24 hours across the country, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,067,589, while the number of active cases is 92,315.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has administered at least 61,724,580 doses of coronavirus vaccine so far. Assuming every person needs two doses, that’s enough to have vaccinated about 14.3 percent of the country’s population.

During the last week, Pakistan administered average about 1,204,828 doses of vaccine daily. At that rate, it will take a further 36 days to administer enough doses for another 10 percent of the population.
