The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) on Monday has reserved its decision regarding the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) petition for increasing gas tariff by Rs58.42 per mmbtu for the fiscal year 2022 in the wake of an increase in the cost of gas and other components, according to a notice issued by the authority.

On October 12, 2021, the state-owned gas utility filed the petition before the authority for review of its estimated revenue requirements and prescribed prices for FY2021-22.

The SSGCL is expecting a shortfall in revenue requirement of Rs.18,399 million for FY 2021-22 and is seeking an increase in its average prescribed price by 58.42 per mmbtu effective July 01, 2021, and the petitioner has also projected RLNG cost of services at Rs.30.48 per mmbtu.

The authority submitted the petition and issued notices on November 23, 2021, to all stakeholders. It also held a public hearing in Karachi on 6th December 2021 under the chairmanship of Masroor Khan. The meeting was held to provide an opportunity to all consumers or the general public and stakeholders to participate and provide their input on the petition.

Meanwhile, the regulator reserved its decision which shall be passed in due course of time.
