The government will have the power to charge up to Rs 1.40 per unit. Furthermore, the government can also increase the prices up to 5.5 per unit in the next two years.

According to details, the ordinance has been issued to meet the demands of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on the federal government of Pakistan. With this, an additional burden of Rs 700 billion will be put on the power consumers in Pakistan.
