KARACHI: On Wednesday, the Chairman Inquiries and Anti Corruption Establishment Sindh Iqbal Memon has said that he will not tolerate harassment of builders, developers and investors or sending baseless notices to them. He also announced the appointment of a focal person for coordination with ABAD.

He said this while addressing a meeting with members of Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan (ABAD).

Chairman ABAD Fayyaz Ilyas, Senior Vice Chairman Khawaja Muhammad Ayoob, Vice Chairman Arif Sheikhani, Chairman Southern Region Eng. Danish Bin Rauf, Director ACE East Ibrahim Memon, Director ACE West Jam Zafarullah Dharejo, Director Muhammad Ali Baloch and a large number of ABAD members were present on this occasion.

Iqbal Memon said that it is the responsibility of Anti Corruption Establishment (ACE) to wipe out corruption from Sindh. He assured ABAD members that he will take stern action against those officers of ACE, who are sending baseless notices to builders and developers to malign them. No one is empowered to harass businessmen; he said adding that those people will also be taken to task who will lodge baseless complaints against builders and developers. He was optimistic that ACE will be able to complete its targets with the active support of ABAD.

Chairman ACE Sindh said that ACE will launch a mobile application soon to facilitate people to lodge their complaints. He said that his department has requested Sindh Government to provide funds for forensic Lab and to improve IT section because Forensic Lab will be useful for taming white-color crimes.

He also announced appointment of Director ACE Sindh Muhammad Ali Baloch as focal person for coordination with ABAD.
Addressing the meeting Chairman ABAD Fayyaz Ilyas said that corruption is the mother of a number of social and financial problems and the corruption is a big hurdle for development of any country. The contraction industry is hit hard by corruption as concerned circles are demanding bribe for legitimate work, too, he lamented.

Builders’ projects are delayed deliberately if bribe is not paid to concerned officers, these situation creates problems for builders and developers as well as allottees. He said that all members of ABAD are doing legitimate work and they are suffering most due to illegal construction activities. Fayyaz Ilyas said that ABAD has always raised voice against corruption and will fully support Ant Corruption Establishment to wipe out corruption from Sindh.

In the end, Chairman Southern region ABAD Eng. Danish Bin Rauf thanked honorable guests and participating ABAD members.
