Four Palestinian inmates who broke a high security jail earlier this week have been recaptured, reported Israeli Police.

The police said that two of them was captured at a parking area on Saturday morning and the other two captured near the vicinities of Nazareth on Friday.

A manhunt was initiated on Monday when the six prisoners escaped Gilboa prison through a tunnel which was the first Palestinian prison break of its kind in the last two decades.

The Israeli media called the incident a series of blunders by officials.

The Palestinian hailed the escape as a heroic act.

Zakaria Zubeidi, who is a former commander of Al-Aqsa Martyr’s Brigade in Jenin, is also recaptured. The commander was arrested by Israeli troops in 2019 in suspicion of involvement in shooting attacks against Israeli forces and was on trial.

The other five escapees- Iham Kamamji, Yaqoub Qadri, Mamoud Ardah, Mohammad Ardah, and Munadil Infant, are members of the militant group of Islamic Jihad. Four of them are serving a life sentence for carrying and planning attack against Israelis soldiers.
