Novak Djokovic has stunned Alexander Zverev in a grueling five-setter semi-final to set up a final against Daniil Medvedev.

Djokovic has kept his bid for the Grand Slam on track after recovering from a set behind to win 4-6 6-2 6-4 4-6 6-2.

Victory in the final on Sunday at Flushing Meadow would move the history-chasing Djokovic clear of the 20 majors won by Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

The victory would also make him the first player to sweep all the four major titles of the year since Rod laver won it in 1969.

In his post-match interview, the three-time US Open champion said, “There’s only one match left, all in, let’s do it. I’m going to put my heart and my soul and my body and my head into that one,” he added that he would be playing his last match as if it is the last match of his career.

Djokovic also thanked the audience of the match and he called the moment as one of those moments ‘they (sportsmen) live for.’
